Limited company accounting FAQs
What does an accountant do for a limited company?
We prepare and file your year end accounts with Companies House, your corporation tax return with HMRC and your confirmation statement. We also look after directors' self assessment, VAT, payroll and bookkeeping, and give you advice throughout the year.
What are the key limited company deadlines?
For most companies, accounts are due at Companies House 9 months after the year end, corporation tax is payable 9 months and 1 day after the year end, and the CT600 return is due 12 months after the year end. A confirmation statement is filed every year. We track all of these for you.
How much does a limited company accountant cost?
We agree a fixed monthly fee before we start, based on the size of your company and the services you need. After a free call we send you a clear quote, so there are no surprise bills.
Can I switch accountant part way through the year?
Yes. We contact your current accountant, collect everything we need and handle the handover for you, so the switch is quick and painless.
Should I pay myself a salary or dividends?
It depends on your profits and your own circumstances. Each year we look at the mix of salary, dividends and pension contributions with you and explain the options, so you can decide with all the facts.
Do I need to use Xero?
It is not essential, but we recommend it. As Xero Gold Partners we can move you from any system, set it up properly and train you 1-2-1 until you are comfortable.
